How Our Search Works
SchoolHouseStock search is powered by Meilisearch with behavioral ranking. This means results aren't just based on keyword matching — they're influenced by how popular and well-received a resource is. Products that sell well, get good reviews, and have high conversion rates naturally rank higher.
What this means for you: the best SEO strategy is a combination of good keywords AND a great product. No amount of keyword optimization will overcome a poorly reviewed resource, and no amount of quality will help if buyers can't find you.
Writing Great Titles
Your title is the single most important factor for search visibility. Here's what works:
Good titles
- "3rd Grade Fractions Worksheet Bundle — Adding & Subtracting with Like Denominators"
- "5th Grade Science Lab Report Template — NGSS Aligned, Editable"
- "Kindergarten Sight Words Flashcards — Dolch Pre-Primer Set, Printable PDF"
Weak titles
- "Math Worksheets" (too vague)
- "THE BEST SCIENCE RESOURCE EVER!!!" (no keywords, too hype-y)
- "Unit 4 Test Review" (no subject, no grade)
The formula: [Grade Level] + [Subject/Topic] + [Resource Type] + [Differentiator]
Using Tags Effectively
Tags are secondary keywords that help your resource show up in related searches. Aim for 5-10 tags per listing. Include:
- Synonyms — If your title says "worksheet," tag with "activity," "practice," "printable"
- Specific topics — "fractions," "adding fractions," "like denominators"
- Use cases — "homework," "centers," "morning work," "sub plans"
- Seasonal — "back to school," "spring," "end of year" if applicable
- Formats — "editable," "Google Slides," "printable," "digital"
Curriculum Standards
Adding curriculum standard alignments (Common Core, NGSS, state standards) significantly improves discoverability. Teachers often search by standard number (e.g., "CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.NF.A.1"), and your resource will show up in those filtered searches.
AI Listing Optimizer
Not sure if your listing is optimized? Use our AI Listing Optimizer (available for Club members and above). It analyzes your title, description, and tags, then provides specific suggestions to improve search visibility and conversion rate.
Driving Traffic from Social Media
External traffic helps your resources rank better in our search. Here are the most effective channels for teacher-sellers:
- Pinterest — Create visually appealing pins that link to your products. Pinterest is essentially a search engine for ideas, and teachers use it constantly. Use our UTM tracking to measure results.
- Instagram — Share behind-the-scenes content, student work examples (with permission), and quick tips related to your resources.
- Facebook groups — Join teacher groups for your grade level and subject. Share your free resources first to build trust, then mention paid options.
- TikTok — Short videos showing your resource in action or explaining a teaching strategy can go viral in the teacher community.
- Email newsletter — Build an email list and notify subscribers when you release new resources or run sales.
Tip
Add UTM parameters to your social media links (e.g., ?utm_source=pinterest) to track which channels drive the most sales. You can see this data in your Analytics dashboard.
