Creating a Physical Product Listing

SchoolHouseStock isn't just for digital downloads. If you create handmade classroom materials — manipulatives, art supplies, teacher planners, classroom decor, or any physical product — you can sell them right here alongside your digital resources.

Go to Dashboard → Sell Physical Item

Select "Physical/Handmade" as the product type. This enables shipping settings and inventory tracking that aren't available on digital products.

Upload great photos

Physical products live and die by their photos. Include multiple angles, close-ups of details, and photos showing the item in use in a classroom. Natural lighting works best. Upload at least 3-5 photos.

Write a detailed description

Include dimensions, materials, what's included, and how to use it. For handmade items, mentioning the craftsmanship and care that goes into each piece adds value.

Set shipping price & processing time

Enter a flat shipping rate (or free shipping if you build it into the price). Set your processing time — how many business days before you ship the order. Be realistic; buyers appreciate honesty over optimism.

Setting Up Variants

If your product comes in different sizes, colors, or configurations, use variants. Each variant can have its own price and stock quantity.

For example, if you sell a handmade felt letter board:

  • Small (12" x 12") — $18.00, 10 in stock
  • Medium (16" x 16") — $24.00, 8 in stock
  • Large (20" x 20") — $32.00, 5 in stock

Buyers select their preferred variant before adding to cart. Inventory decreases automatically when orders come in, and you'll be notified when stock runs low.

Handling Orders & Shipping

When a buyer orders your physical product, here's what happens:

You receive an order notification

You'll get an email and a dashboard notification with the buyer's shipping address and order details.

Pack and ship the item

Package the item carefully and ship it using your preferred carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.). Ship within your stated processing time.

Enter the tracking number

In your Dashboard, go to the order and add the tracking number. The buyer will receive an automatic shipping notification with tracking.

The Reserve System

For new sellers of physical products, SchoolHouseStock uses a reserve system to protect buyers. Here's how it works:

  • For your first few orders, payment is held in reserve for 7 days after delivery confirmation
  • This ensures the buyer receives the item as described before funds are released
  • After you've established a track record (typically 5-10 successful orders), the reserve period is reduced or eliminated
  • This system protects both buyers and builds trust in your physical products

Tip

Ship quickly and communicate clearly. Teachers are often buying supplies for specific lessons or events. A tracking number sent within 24 hours of the order makes a huge impression and leads to great reviews.
