Creating Your Course
Video courses are a fantastic way to earn recurring income while sharing your expertise. Whether you're teaching professional development, classroom management strategies, or subject-specific skills, courses let you go deeper than a PDF ever could.
Navigate to Dashboard → Courses → Create
Click "Create Course" to start building. You'll be taken to the course editor where you can build out your entire curriculum.
Fill in course details
Add a compelling title, detailed description, price, subject area, and a cover image. Think of the description as your sales page — explain what learners will walk away with.
Add sections (modules)
Organize your course into logical sections. For example: "Module 1: Introduction," "Module 2: Core Concepts," etc. You can reorder sections by dragging them.
Add lessons to each section
Each section contains individual lessons. Give each lesson a title and optional description. This is where you'll upload your video content.
Upload video files
Upload MP4 or MOV files, up to 5GB per video. After uploading, our system processes the video for adaptive streaming (usually 2-5 minutes). You'll see a processing indicator, and a green checkmark when it's ready.
Publish your course
Once all lessons are uploaded and processed, hit Publish. Your course will appear in the marketplace and on your seller store. Students can enroll immediately.
How Video Hosting Works
We use Mux for video hosting — the same infrastructure used by major streaming platforms. Here's what that means for you:
- Adaptive streaming — Video quality adjusts automatically based on the viewer's internet speed. No buffering for students on slow connections.
- Content protection — Videos are served through signed URLs that expire, preventing unauthorized sharing or downloading of your content.
- Global delivery — Content is delivered from edge servers around the world, so playback is fast everywhere.
- No storage limits — Upload as many lessons and as much video content as you need. We handle the hosting.
Club Library Opt-In
You can optionally make your course available to Club+ and Pro subscribers. This dramatically increases enrollment. When Club members watch your course, you earn from the monthly royalty pool. Many course creators see 3-5x more enrollments when they opt in.
To enable: Dashboard → Courses → Edit Course → Toggle "Available in Club Library."
Completion Certificates
When a student completes 100% of your course (watches every lesson), they automatically receive a downloadable completion certificate. The certificate includes the course name, student name, completion date, and your name as the instructor. This is especially valuable for professional development courses where teachers need to document their learning hours.
Tips for Great Courses
Tip
You don't need expensive equipment. A quiet room, decent lighting, and your laptop's webcam or a smartphone can produce perfectly good course content. Focus on clear explanations and practical, actionable takeaways. Your expertise is what matters most.
- Keep lessons focused — Aim for 5-15 minutes per lesson. Shorter lessons feel less overwhelming and are easier to fit into a busy teacher's schedule.
- Include downloadable materials — Add PDF handouts, templates, or worksheets that complement the video content.
- Structure logically — Build skills progressively. Each lesson should build on the previous one.
- Start with a free preview lesson — Let potential students see your teaching style before purchasing.
- Price competitively — Professional development courses typically sell well at $29-$59. See our Pricing Guide.
