Getting Started Guide

Go from zero to your first published resource in under 30 minutes.

Welcome to SchoolHouseStock! Whether you've been selling on other platforms for years or you're brand new to sharing your teaching resources, this guide will walk you through every step. We've made the process as simple as possible so you can focus on what matters most: creating amazing resources for fellow educators.

Tip

The onboarding wizard at /dashboard/onboarding/ will guide you through each of these steps interactively. We recommend following along there while reading this guide.

Step 1: Create Your Account

1

Sign up for a free account

Click "Get Started" in the top-right corner of any page. Enter your name, email, and a password. You'll get a confirmation email within seconds.

2

Become a seller

After signing in, click "Become a Seller" from the user menu. This adds a seller profile to your account. Buying is always free — you only need a seller profile to upload resources.

Every SchoolHouseStock account can both buy and sell. There are no separate buyer and seller accounts, and there is no monthly fee to sell. You only pay our 10% commission when you make a sale.

Step 2: Complete Your Seller Profile

Your seller profile is your storefront. Buyers use it to learn who you are and decide if they trust your resources. A complete profile converts more visitors into buyers.

1

Choose a shop name

This is the name buyers will see. It can be your real name ("Mrs. Johnson's Resources"), a brand name ("Creative Classroom Co."), or anything that feels right. You can change it later.

2

Write a short bio

Tell fellow teachers about your background, what you teach, and what makes your resources special. Even 2-3 sentences make a big difference. Mention your grade levels and subjects so buyers know you understand their needs.

3

Upload a profile photo

A real photo builds trust. It doesn't have to be professional — a clear, friendly photo works great. Stores with profile photos see up to 40% more sales than those without.

Step 3: Connect Stripe

Stripe is how you get paid. We use Stripe Connect so that when a buyer purchases your resource, the money goes directly to your bank account. The entire setup takes about 5 minutes.

1

Click "Connect Stripe" in your dashboard

Navigate to Dashboard → Settings or follow the onboarding wizard. Click the orange "Connect Stripe" button.

2

Complete Stripe's onboarding

You'll be redirected to Stripe to verify your identity and add your bank details. Stripe needs your legal name, date of birth, and bank account information. This is standard for any payment platform.

3

Return to SchoolHouseStock

Once Stripe is connected, you'll be redirected back. Your dashboard will show a green checkmark next to Stripe. You're ready to earn money!

Don't worry — we never see or store your bank details. Stripe handles all of that securely. For more details, see our Payments & Payouts guide.

Step 4: Upload Your First Resource

Now the fun part! Head to Dashboard → Upload Resource (or click the "Upload Resource" button in the sidebar).

1

Add a title

Be specific and include keywords buyers search for. "3rd Grade Fractions Worksheet Bundle" beats "Math Stuff." See our SEO Tips for more advice.

2

Write a description

Describe what's included, how to use it, and who it's for. Bullet points work great. The more detail you provide, the more confident buyers feel about purchasing.

3

Upload your file(s)

Drag and drop or click to upload. We accept PDF, PPTX, DOCX, ZIP, and image files. Maximum file size is 500MB. For Google Slides or Docs, paste an external link instead.

4

Add a cover image

This is the first thing buyers see. A clean, professional preview of your resource converts much better than a generic icon. Show what the printed worksheet or slide deck actually looks like.

5

Set your price

You keep 90% of every sale. Check our Pricing Guide for recommended price ranges by resource type. You can also mark it as free to build your audience.

Step 5: Add Grade Levels, Subjects & Tags

These help buyers find your resource in search. Select the grade levels it's designed for, the subject area, and add relevant tags (like "fractions," "hands-on," "centers," "no-prep"). You can also align your resource with curriculum standards if applicable.

Tip

Resources with at least 5 tags and a curriculum standard alignment get significantly more search visibility. Take 30 seconds to add them — it pays off for months.

Step 6: Publish & Share

Hit the Publish button, and your resource is live! It immediately appears in search results and on the browse page. Here's how to get your first sales rolling:

  • Share the link on social media, teacher Facebook groups, and your email list
  • Pin it on Pinterest with an eye-catching graphic
  • Tell your colleagues — word of mouth is the #1 driver of first sales
  • Create more resources — sellers with 10+ products earn 5x more than those with just one
